Rowanty serves Prince George, Dinwiddie, and Sussex counties in Southeastern Virginia. Two school board members from each county serve as Rowanty's Board of Control. Additionally, each school division's superintendent is actively involved with the Board and serve as the Superintendent Advisory Council to Rowanty.
Regular board meetings are held bi-monthly.
